Today's Topic: The Hot 3 – Recap of the biggest topics discussed
Topic #1: School is officially closed. A concern we had from the first podcast was, what is going to happen to our children once the economy reopens? What’s the plan? The DOE has yet to make an official statement regarding children on the ESY (Extended School Year)/12-month program.
Topic #2: Another previous concern was parents who have not received devices for remote learning. The DOE has reportedly delivered 250,000 devices to parents around the city. However, there are still parents who don’t have a device. The new unfortunate issue is teachers calling ACS on parents whose kids aren’t reporting in remotely. Including parents with no equipment.
Topic #3: Third topic, how have the DOE engaged parents? A couple of surveys have been circulating. And we’ve had several meetings with leaders at the DOE.
